Another inspirational organisation, who I was lucky enough to be working with a few years ago on returning to Christchurch is Rekindle. Rekindle's project at the time was on rescuing beautiful, old reusable timbers from the homes of the Christchurch Red Zone before the diggers arrived and banished the timbers to landfill. The clever craftspeople at Rekindle turned these timbers into gorgeous hand made and unique furniture.  To further reduce the waste the timber offcuts were turned into stunning jewellery. Now that there's a huge demand for reclaimed timbers Rekindle has changed tack and currently runs a variety of workshops in Christchurch all focused on creating opportunities for resourcefulness by "creating what we need from what we have". Some examples are basket weaving, using traditional techniques and cabbage tree leaves, or clothes pegs out of local hazel wood. For more detail their link is here

I can't wait to get to one and learn new skills. Hope to see you there
